Last week at London Fashion Week MM6, Maison Margiela’s younger, more affordable line transformed Christie’s in Mayfair into an artist’s studio filled with painters and creepy mannequins wearing the paint-splattered collection.
The static display allowed the attendees to get up close to quirky details and styling that are key to the brand. Jewellery was taped onto wrists, T-shirts were worn as skirts, and jeans were belted, apron-like, around the waist. Margiela’s signature deconstructed shirts were styled with wild raffia headpieces while the artists wearing white lab coats (another signature of the house) climbed ladders to paint slogans like ‘hugs and kisses’ across the scene.
