The anticipated mid-day show of designer duo Perret Schaad gave reason to believe in the potential for growth and, hopefully, success of the young Berlin designers. Creative development, or rather, a coming of age would best describe the collection, which featured many wearable pieces with a cross-generational appeal. A number of jackets, trousers, dresses and coats could be worn day or night, making the collection not only almost entirely “for everyone”, but also functional for all occasions.
The colour palette was described as “autumnal”, which meant woody, earthy tones and some highlights in bright coral combined with greys and blues, oscillating with their references between a natural landscape and urban scenery. As always with Perret Schaad, the geometry of the body and its contours were played with masterfully using sharp cuts and sculptural details alongside drape-y, flowing details.
The designers introduced prints as a recurring motif on dresses and skirts, which seemed to have originated from a manipulated image of something organic (oysters? Rocks?) and were not the strength of the collection. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing – there should always be room for improvement.
