“How do I get into Berghain?” constantly asks the internet. And inspired by the age-old question two designers have created “Berghain Ze Game”, a card game that lets you (re)live the quintessential Berlin experience. The game will allowing clubbers to swap roles with the notorious doormen of Berlin’s famed super-club, and channel their inner Sven Marquardt. Funded by Kickstarter and created by the Swedish design duo Alexander Kandiloros and Joakim Bergkvist the game lets its players monitor club entry, ensuring that the correct type of guests are allowed in and that the mix of people is appropriate.
The aim of the game is to collect the highest amount of the most valued cards by the time your queue is empty. Cards are colour coded, and depict humorous illustrations of stereotypical Berghain dwellers. Potential guests including “Bloggers”, “Hippies”, “Stoners” “Fag Hags and “Ketamine Fiends” and can be collected alongside the highest ranking pink set of cards – the “gay” set – which include “Gimps”, “Bears” and “Cubs”.
Stating that the premise came from the clubs infamy, co-creator Joakim Bergkvist thought it would be fun to play with that notoriety, while creating light-hearted Berghain-related home entertainment. Earlier in the year the first Berghain-themed game was launched. “BerghainTrainer” allows players online to use their body language and face metrics to try their luck with the club’s bouncers. As with everything practice makes perfect, so why not try it in the comfort of your home.
