It was only a matter of time until one of Berlin’s biggest cultural institution followed in the footsteps of Biebs and started peddling some merch of its own – or so we thought. Berghain Shop is the satirical website tricking the German nightclub’s most gullible fans with news of a pop-up store taking place this weekend in the city’s most touristic district.
Mock merchandise consists of traditional fare including T-shirts and keychains printed with “I heart Berghain”. However, there are also a few original options such as a puzzle depicting Sven Marquardt rowing along the River Styx and an exact replica of Ben Klock’s very own banana from his historic set on New Years Day 2016. The website’s creators have even helped secure your next Klubnacht look with a mask of Sven’s barbed-wire tattooed face. For ultimate effect, there are even videos of a masked Marquardt segway-ing around Checkpoint Charlie. At the end of the day, this humorous hoax has us sort of wishing it were real.
