The September highlight of Germany’s art calendar, Berlin Art Week, returns for its sixth year running. This year’s event promises a massive program that will brighten up even this most disappointing of summers. Joining forces with some of the most innovative and established institutions, galleries, artists and collectors, it’s safe to say that BAW 2017 will be nothing short of excellent.
Celebrating the best in emerging and internationally renowned talent, we can expect everything from large-scale exhibitions to lesser-known artist films. The art fairs are the real star of the show, though, featuring works from a global roster of artists and running across two different sites. abc art berlin contemporary will present a fair in collaboration with Art Cologne, and Positions Berlin fair continues to expand at the Arena. There’s also the promise of highly anticipated exhibitions from Monica Monica Bonvicini, Danny Lyon and Willem de Rooij and a retrospective on German filmmaker, Harun Farocki.
If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, we don’t know what is. But there’s plenty more where that came from: be sure to check our website regularly as the event draws nearer to read about our top picks and recommendations to make the best of your Berlin Art Week.
