Beautiful party kids and artists have always flocked to Berlin, attracted by its “poor, but sexy” appeal
Beautiful party kids and artists have always flocked to Berlin, attracted by its “poor, but sexy” appeal. So it’s no surprise that as the fashion industry turns its attention to “nodels'” (people who not only look good, but also have style and a story), that the German capital has become one of the hottest places to scout for new faces.
With a host of models coming up from the city, we capture the ones-to-watch with our new series by Catherine Edwardina called “Berlin’s New Faces”. First up is model Terese Nana-Yaa, from IZAIO Management, here is what she has to say:
SLEEK: What gets you out of bed in the morning Terese?
Terese: I like to sleep in, so it’s either my alarm that makes me jump up, or my cats.
S: What song do you have on repeat ?
T: “Adore you” by Nao.
S:You feel most confident when wearing…
T: Dr. Martens. I bought my first pair five years ago can’t let go of them.
S: What fashion designer would you love to model for?
T: Saint Laurent and Vivienne Westwood.
S: Not including phone, purse or keys, what are the 3 things you always have in your bag?
Lotion, a book and headphones.
How would you describe Berlin to someone who has never been before?
In this city you can be, and do whatever you want, no-one will try to hold you back, there’s so much space for creativity. My advice to newcomers? – just go with the flow, explore and get sucked into the nightlife of this amazing city!

What is one food that you can absolutely not live without?
My dad is Ghanaian and traditional West African cuisine has always been part of my life. I absolutely love Fufu, (a traditional dish, consisting of pounded yam or plantain, which is served with soup).
Favorite spot to grab a bite to eat in Berlin?
I like to explore and try new things but a good place to get some food is DUDU.
What’s the first place you take friends visiting Berlin?
Museum Island is a typical tourist location, but definitely worth a visit. Otherwise, I’d recommend to just go with the flow and the let the city surprise you.
Worst Habit?
I’m very lazy!
Highlight of 2016, so far?
Loads happened this year but moving into my new flat that we renovated ourselves was big.
