This week one of the biggest annual design events, the Milan Design Week returned to Fiera Milano Rho with a new campaign designed by Leftloft and Gio Pastori, unveiling the universal alphabet of design: brightly-coloured, geometric and ultra-Pop. The impactful cultural program brings together 1962 exhibitors, focuses on sustainability, and provides visitors with a subjective, memorable experience. Environmental, economic and social responsibility will also be a priority at the 2023 edition of the Salone del Mobile Milano, which has just received ISO 20121 certification for the sustainable organisation of events.
Here is a selection of some highlights of the 61st edition:

Prada Frames
The theme of Prada Frames Milan 2023 is “Materials in Flux”, focusing on the complex relationship between materials and ecosystems. The 3-day-symposium is based on the research by British anthropologist Tim Ingold, who views materials as interconnected, endlessly changing living entities and connects to the maison’s ethical and aesthetic implications of low-impact production and original creativity.

LOEWE Chairs
LOEWE ‘s project “Chairs” explores the art of weaving as a way to create additional textures and expand shapes in softly sculptural protrusions. Each creation is the result of a creative dialogue between the artisans, where the humble stick chair becomes a springboard for unbridled woven decoration.

G-Star Raw x Maarten Baas
Denim brand G-Star RAW and artist and designer Maarten Baas have collaborated on a series of thought-provoking design and art pieces made from recycled G-Star jeans. The exhibition titled ‘More or Less’ explores one of the fundamental predicaments of our time: the tension and duality between the desire for more and the need for less. The exhibition showcases a triptych of cabinets in the shape of jeans, and a fifteen-meter-long private jet.
