Visiting Munich's Dazzling Brandhorst Museum in BMW's New 430i Convertible

BMW-Brandhorst-4
Tucked away between the Alte and Neue Pinakothek as well as the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, the eye catching Brandhorst Museum has played host to an impressive roster of artists since 2009. Every year, tourists flock to the museum to view contemporary pieces by artists such as Andy Warhol, Bruce Nauman, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Alex Katz and Damien Hirst, among others. This summer, the Brandhorst plays host to two especially exciting exhibitions featuring the works of painter Kerstin Brätsch and the multi-talented Cy Twombly.
For Kerstin Brätsch’s solo show, the painter has put a selection of paintings, handmade glass works, videos, slide projections and large-scale installations on display. Challenging traditional painting, Brätsch expands upon those before her with the inclusion of digital technology in her work. Working across drawing, sculpture and photography, multi-disciplinary artist Cy Twombly‘s exhibition on the other hand focuses on the artist’s diverse works throughout his career, which spans from the 1950s up until 2011. Entitled “In the Studio”, this exhibition places special importance on a collection of rose paintings created by the artist in the studio prior to his death.
The Brandhorst is much more than its collection, however, and patrons often pay a visit due to the building’s unique exterior. Built by the Berlin-based architecture firm Sauerbruch Hutton, the two-story museum’s colourful facade is made of 36,000 ceramic vertical rods in 23 different shades. Serving as an excellent backdrop to BMW’s new 430i, scroll through the images below for a closer look at the convertible as well as the Brandhorst’s beautiful oak interiors.
