How many magazine editors would publish a photo of their butt, about to undergo a massage by their interview subject (in this case, Canadian artist AA Bronson)? Butt magazine has been making waves as a groundbreaking representation of gay culture since 2001, when editors Jop van Bennekom and Gert Jonkers founded the pink-paged homo bible. The new hardback book, “Forever Butt”, published by Taschen features some of the magazine’s finest moments – including Berhard Wilhelm, posing in torn undies with an ironing board, Marc Jacobs on why he doesn’t find fashionable men sexy and a candid interview with “prince of homosexuals” Bruce LaBruce.

Strictly NSFW, the book runs to a whopping 536 pages including an introduction by Wolfgang Tillmans that pays homage to the frankness of the images and words inside. But most of all, the breadth of subjects is the most important aspect of this tome, pushing the boundaries of male homosexuality further than simple cock shots (although you’ll find plenty of those too).
