Since Raf Simons was appointed at the helm of Calvin Klein, the New York brand gained back it’s ’90s height of cool’ reputation purely by association with the cult designer. Now that Simons has one season under his belt, he is making sure to align himself with some more promising young talents. For the SS17 campaign he chose Julian Klincewicz, a multi-talented creative, to direct a video series featuring some of his latest muses. The filmmaker, photographer, skater and author has already been selected by a variety of fashion labels for collaborations, including Eckhaus Latta and Gosha Rubchinskiy.
The Cast introduces us to the young models by name and location alongside chopped-up and distorted slo-mo visuals. The dream-like sequence of clips is accompanied by a dark, trippy soundtrack by Berlin-based DJ and producer Curses – another talent hand-picked by Simons, who has also lent his sound to Gucci. The nostalgic, western sonics provided by the New York-born musician (real name Luca Venezia) are a fitting choice for Klincewicz lo-fi visuals.
