For Carhartt Work In Progress’ latest collaboration, they have sourced the creative UK skateboarding brand ISLE and French New-Gen artist Raphaël Zarka to create a collaborative line of T-shirts, Jackets and skateboards. With an existing foothold in the doorstep in Skateboarding with pro skater Sylvain Tognelli skating for Carhartt WIP and part of the funding crew of ISLE skateboard – it was only a question of time for the collaboration.
The outcome is more than just a line of products, it is a dialogue of the merging of a coveted streetwear brand, skateboarding and contemporary art – Zarka, who’s known for his artistic ability of re-writing spaces destined for a particular use, created solid wooden art sculptures to become geometrical skate obstacles, a subject that he has been exploring since the ’80s. These forms have then further been translated into prints for graphic boards and T-shirts for Carhartt’s new collection.
The collection is available in store and online, while the sculptures will be on display at Protein Studios in London until 24 November.
