The Berlinische Galerie‘s interdisciplinary collection is home to the thought-provoking contemporary art of Berlin. From painting to sculptures, to photography and architecture, the divergent displays at the gallery deal with art from 1870 to the present and offer a space in which visitors can engage in creative and social exchanges. In our first episode of SLEEK Talks, our very own publisher, Christian Bracht spoke with the director of Berlinische Galerie, Dr. Thomas Köhler to discuss the relationship between fashion and image, building upon one of the gallery’s current exhibitions ‘Images in Fashion – Clothing in Art.’ An exploration of the relationship between fashion, artistic movements, and society, this exhibition spans the twentieth-century representations in photographs, paintings, drawings, clothing designs, and contemporary art. This Sunday, May 15th, Berlinische Galerie is celebrating ‘International Museum Day’ by inviting everyone to enjoy their current exhibitions. All are welcome at the reduced ticket price of 6 euros, while those under 18 can enter free. Along with the ‘Images in Fashion – Clothing in Art‘ exhibition, the gallery is presenting work by Nina Canell in their exhibition ‘Tectonic Tender‘ while their permanent collection ‘Art in Berlin 1880–1980‘ takes you on a journey through time, tracing the history of art in Berlin. Visitors can also participate in guided tours and workshops on Sunday 15th, the perfect opportunity for a gallery day with friends.
