Out of reach (is out of touch) is a fashion film by Nichola Farnan, of the London-based jewellery studio CC-Steding, and filmmaker Safiyya Lea. The video work gives form to the state of anticipation, considering the heightened awareness that marks desire. By interrogating the cinematic codes used to construct intimacy and sensuality, Farnan and Lea were interested in producing a modern response to erotic tropes.

The work premieres on Thursday 14th November at SWIM XYZ, London, and includes two live performances of the film. Choreographed by Darcy Wallace and with an original live score written and performed by Thom Sonny Green, Farnan and Lea exhibit a defiant, experimental and multidisciplinary approach to fashion and art–and art and commerce–that continues to distinguish the British capital.

Farnan tells SLEEK ahead of the performance:“We never wanted CC-Steding to be just another fashion jewellery brand—that’s why we never really executed a traditional lookbook. We work with artists  (generally, our friends) on our campaigns. We always need an element that is outside commercial interests. We want a high quality, technical product on one side – and another that allows us to explore our fine art origins.”

The performance will commence at 7pm with a second score at 8pm. The film will run throughout the night at SWIM XYZ
