Berlin became a center of creative exploration at the first “Icons Crafted Together” workshop, an immersive creative experience hosted by UGG and Zalando, where 20 content creators came together. The workshop, guided by Berlin- based designer Pauline Deckert and known under her label Pauluschkaa Studio, invited participants to rethink fashion not just as a finished product, but as a process, where materials, texture, and structure are examined, deconstructed, and brought them together in new ways.
Over the day, each creator designed individual patchwork pieces, reflecting their personal approach to creativity while engaging with the shared theme of collaboration. These pieces, varying in materials and textures, will eventually be combined into a three-meter-tall UGG boot, which will be unveiled at Berlin Art Week on September 10, marking the finale of the workshop series after a second edition in Paris.
The concept of “Inside Out” thinking shaped the event. Participants were encouraged to explore materials with new eyes, experimenting with elements that once had a different purpose and transforming them into expressive, wearable art. This approach not only emphasized sustainability and upcycling, but also highlighted how fashion can carry stories, memories, and creativity beyond its original form.
Pauline Deckert shared her philosophy on the creative process, emphasizing openness and transparency. She does not gatekeep her methods, instead, she invites participants to witness her work and gain insight into how materials and ideas can evolve. For her, every patch carries meaning: materials are reimagined, narratives are embedded, and individuality is celebrated within a collective framework.
The atmosphere of the workshop was inspiring, with participants exchanging ideas and learning from one another. Each patch combined materials that hold a story and honors the brand’s heritage. The result is a collaborative work of art that embodies both craft and community.
The giant patchwork boot is more than an installation, it represents the union of diverse voices, ideas, and creative visions, materialized in a single iconic piece. Visitors can see the three-meter-tall UGG boot at Berlin Art Week, opening September 10. The installation will be open to the public on September 10, 2025, at Bode Projects (Karl-Marx-Allee 82, 10243 Berlin), as part of Berlin Art Week. It demonstrates how community and artistic experimentation can intersect to produce work that is both visually striking and meaningful.
