Elevating nostalgia as the back of their concept, the Amsterdam-based culture pioneer brand Daily Paper launches their first drop of 2022, a collection centred around the core of championing the evolution of Hip Hop from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

The Spring Summer 2022 collection is a visual depiction of pure Hip Hop worship, tying in the iconic workwear and oversized silhouettes, graffiti prints, monogramming, denim and tailored pinstripe suiting. It juxtaposes the old and the new, merging the best of both worlds – an ode to the history of Hip Hop and recreating the legacy of these eras with a contemporary twist.

Explaining the inspiration behind this collection, Abderrahmne Trabsini, the co-Founder and Design Director at Daily Paper states “I enjoyed working on this collection a lot as Hip Hop has always been, and still is, a big inspiration to us. The influence of Hip Hop and its community had a significant impact on how Daily Paper came to life. First through telling stories around street culture on our blog which later evolved to become the fashion brand we are today.”

Not only can the influence be found in the silhouettes of the garments, but you can also expect the return of era-specific references such as towelling fabrics, dungarees, voluminous tracksuits, bandanas and bucket hats. A further look into the collection sees reference to the phrase ‘Educate to Liberate,’ acknowledging Hip Hop as a medium for expression and change, and the colours red, black and green, seen on the Pan-African flag that symbolises the liberation of the African Diaspora, can be found throughout the collection.
