Last Friday, Studio 1111 in Berlin became the place to be: GUESS invited guests to the launch of ‘The B Jean’. It was clear from the moment you walked in what the evening was about, with ‘The B Jean’ taking centre stage throughout the night. Fabulous guests wore ‘The B Jean’ by GUESS, and yet no two looks were alike.
Among the enchanting faces of the evening were Maria, Salimata, Maureen, Amanda and many other creatives from the city, who mingled between greetings and compliments on each other’s outfits. The versatility of ‘The B Jean’ showed in the details. Paired with a simple white tee, wet hair and smokey eyes, the jeans became an edgy, effortlessly cool look. Others styled them chic and elegant, classic and with quiet self-assurance. Still others combined them with a purple-and-white striped hat, catapulting the piece straight back to the Y2K era.
The soundtrack came from BabyB3ns, who entranced the whole room. With every track, the energy in the studio grew more captivated, making anybody unable to stand still for long. Glasses in hand, the guests danced into the late evening as the bass pulsed through the room, until the smell of delicate perfume infused with cold cigarette smoke dissolved unhurriedly into the cool night air.
Toward the end of the night, the guests were still dancing in their jeans, which seemed to come alive anew with every movement. Perhaps that is the real appeal of ‘The B Jean’: it needs no staging, but adapts to the person, the look and the night. The GUESS launch showed that a single garment can tell many stories, and that it’s the best piece to dance in.
