Dilara Findikoglu AW17

How did Dilara Findikoglu follow up last season’s strip club-based SS17 show. By covering a 19th century town house-turned-museum in Marilyn Manson merch and cramming it with a harem of Instagram’s favourite cool girls, naturally. A Slayer soundtrack blasted through the eerie St John Soane’s Museum as press inspected Findikoglu’s AW17 collection – a mash up of medieval, futuristic and wild halloween vibes.

Isamaya Ffrench went to town on the models make-up – the looks varied from Glam Rock eyes to martian green skin. Set designer, Hatty Ellis-Coward decked out the antique covered space with bell jars and giant eyeball-sprouting plants.

Then there were the clothes. Dilara continued her embellishment fetish, covering tartan kilts with beading and psychedelic houndstooth with embroidery. Tactile fabrics, including glossy PVC, velvets, silk and taffeta, meant every look was heavily textured. Towards the end of a fashion week filled with either girlish dresses or chic minimalism, Dilara Findikoglu brought welcome relief with her more-is-more fashion rebel aesthetic that we love her for.
