The Perret Schaad spring/summer 2013 collection captured the glimmering heat of a hazy summer day. Once again, the German designer duo Johanna Perret und Tutia Schaad displayed their talent for clear forms and simple silhouettes. Inspired by the tender shades and the shiny reflections of a mid-summer day, the colour palette diversified from quiet powder shades to metallic red and ocean-blue.
Light and delicate silk and crepe fabrics seemed to float over the runway, and even the linen and mohair mixtures that underlined the sculptural forms didn’t take anything away from the collection’s airiness.
One standout piece was a short white dress, which, on the front, was simple and clean, while back surprised with cut-outs. The summer 2013 collection stayed true to Perret Schaad’s signature minimalism and architectural looks. Though not quite innovative in terms of what the designers usually do, the collection brought a fresh breeze to an overheated tent with its light designs.
