Berlin is a hive of creativity to which artists from all over the world swarm to be inspired. The constant flux of artists and opening of new art spaces combined with a culture that embraces new business ventures mean that the city is the ideal platform for multi-disciplinary projects.
One such project is a new collaboration between Factory Berlin, a community for developers and strategists who share a passion for invoking tangible changes through tech, and Riverside Studios, a collective of music industry professionals. Under the name of The Creative Code, the initiative aims to unlock the creative potential of the space where technology meets art.

“At Riverside Studios, we had been working at the intersection of technology and creativity for quite some time,” says Martin Eyerer, producer at Riverside Studios and CIO of Factory Berlin. “The joint venture with Factory Berlin is the perfect symbiosis to take this to the next level as I’m sure no industry will be able to avoid the dialogue between tech and art in the future.”
This week, Factory Berlin will host the launch event of The Creative Code at their Görlitzer Park venue in collaboration with Riverside and Sónar+D, an international conference that supports inter-disciplinary projects relating to the digital transformation of cultural industries. The event will feature a programme of talks, installations, performances and interactive exhibits to showcase the current collaborative projects and highlight the works of individual creatives within the community.
“Creative thinking is the key to innovation and a part of the Factory Berlin DNA: it breaks down barriers to thinking and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration,” Nico Gramenz, the CEO of Factory Berlin, tells SLEEK. “By thinking beyond industry boundaries, cross-pollinating solutions from other sectors, and changing perspectives, the Creative Code facilitates just that. We are bringing art and business together and making space for unrestricted freedom of thought.”
The night will be brought to a close with an after party co-hosted by SLEEK featuring DJ sets from Trikk, one of Porto’s rising stars from the Innervisions family, and Berlin-based artists TERR and Matthias Schuell, a programme that highlights The Creative Code’s commitment to promoting new and international. “Berlin is one of the three key Music Metropoles on the globe and therefore our local footprint is very important to us,” considers Paul Bankewitz, the Head of Creative Innovation at Factory Berlin. “It is the start of a new era, an era of creativity and re-imagining collaboration.”
The Creative Code launch party takes place on 29 May at Factory Berlin Görlitzer Park.
