FALLING | IN LOVE with Swarovski

In a unique cooperation with the Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin, Swarovski makes the capital sparkle. Yesterday evening, one of the most elaborate productions to date celebrated its premiere on the world’s largest theatre stage. The new Grand Show FALLING | IN LOVE bears the unmistakable signature of French designer Jean Paul Gaultier. Working as the Visual Design Director on set, Gaultier curated costumes adorned with 100 million Swarovski crystals while integrating designs by young talents.

Throughout the evening, VIP guests made their way through the red carpet – alongside Jean Paul Gaultier – adorned in Swarovski crystals. Among the numerous attendees, Fecal Matter, Luke Rainey and Marvin Lobodda, and Phenix.

“It’s a love story, as the name says. Love of others, love of oneself, love of nature, of our world, of differences,” Gaultier said in an interview in our latest issue SLEEK 78 – BLISS. “I’ve always wanted to show in my work that there isn’t just one form of beauty but many,” he adds, “and that it can be found where you least expect it. In this latest Grand Show, the Garden of Love represents humanity’s eternal dream of a world in which each of us can thrive in all our colours, facets and desires.”

Together with the international creative team led by writer and director Oliver Hoppmann, Gaultier created a new jewel in the show world. Millions of Swarovski crystals adorn both the stage set and Gaultier’s enchanting creations. Glamorous pieces of Swarovski jewellery not only made the ensemble of the Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin shine, but also the VIP guests on the Red Carpet.
