The new online boutique serving up extreme ‘00s fashion nostalgia

Any tight-purse-string restraint you might possess is about to go out of the window thanks to Fantazia Worldwide, a newly launched online mecca of pop fashion. Serving up Zucca print, diamante-encrusted and logo-emblazoned goodness in the form of Carrie Bradshaw-esque saddle bags and Galliano bikinis, the boutique presents dizzying tack-is-back fashion that’s ripe for an archival Insta throwback.

“For me, Fantazia represents a woman of strong character who isn’t caught up with mindless drama or what other people think,” founder Nadia Kanaan tells SLEEK. “She is who she is and she isn’t afraid of putting herself out there.” Now based in Berlin (via New York) Kanaan’s obsession with the noughties stems from growing up in the Middle East. “I always looked to print magazines and MTV as a window to the West, and as a teen in the ’00s, this had such a powerful impact on me in terms of my path to self expression.” Much like the rest of us children of the ’90s, Kanaan was glued to pop vids and reality TV (à la Sweet Sixteen), and it’s stuck with her. “There was a sense of humour, individuality, playfulness and powerful sexuality that defined this era of fashion,” she recalls. “The music, the cultural icons and the style sensibility have really shaped my point of view today.”

The former PR Director of Reference Studios launched Fantazia Worldwide this week, fuelled by the desire to dress the inspiring females that surround her. “I want my customers to feel confident, unique and sexy,” Kanaan tells us.”I essentially want to sell clothes that all my girlfriends would want to wear and look HOT in.” And who wouldn’t feel snatched to utter capacity when decked head to toe in Fendi? “I’m surrounded by such amazing women who are doing incredibly courageous things and I want to create a wardrobe to match that.”

Fantazia is the embodiment of that ’00s je-ne-sais-quoi — trash meets sass meets class — and Kanaan is cultivating a brand aesthetic to match. The brand’s debut, Nick Knight-inspired campaign is true Simple Life paired with noughties music vid excellence, and it’s got us dying for Dior.
