Five Questions With DJ Wolfram

Having a number of his records appear on DFA in New York didn’t tempt DJ and model Wolfram to abandon his home Austria. In Vienna, where he set up his creative space, he mixes the world of techno and eurodance to create kitsch sounds of nostalgia. Making use of analogue synthesisers, Wolfram is most certainly an 80s kid and it shows; not only in his sounds but in the way he dresses too, with windbreakers and racing jackets being his go-to styles.

Fashion has the power to lift our spirits and provide us with strength, comfort and happiness to make the most out of life. A joyful celebration of individuality, Zalando’s ‘Make Your Own Moment’ campaign serves as an embodiment of the excitement that fashion can bring, a reminder that each of us holds the power to create our own personal fashion moments. In the campaign, DJ Wolfram features as one of the main characters, who Zalando interviews about style and music.

Zalando: Is there a difference from your style as Wolfram and DJ Wolfram?

Wolfram: I would describe it as different Wolfram phases. There’s one side which includes colourful vintage Versace and Missoni knits, also Ferrari jackets and overalls. But then sometimes it’s just Steve Jobs normcore, that means blue jeans and a turtleneck.

Z: You are playing at fashion week parties around the world. How does fashion have an effect on your music?

W:  It has no effect on it at all. I don’t play nicer or cooler tracks just because I’m at a stylish fashion event. My main goal is to bring good vibes so that the crowd has fun and to  maybe inspire an attending designer.

Z: Which designers on Zalando excites you the most at the moment?

W: Moschino, Margiela, Tom Ford Eyewear and of course Lacoste.

Z: Which hotspots in Ibiza should every fashion lover know?

W: Definitely Circoloco, El Silencio, Casa Maca and Pikes.

Z: What is your favourite track at the moment?

W: I just got vocals from Desire (known for Ryan Gosling’s „Drive“ soundtrack) in for our „Sad Ibiza Song“ and I probably listened to that the most during last week until I finished and finally released it.
