Freitag Helps an Athens Locality Build Its First Skate Park

In a city with plenty of sunshine and handrails, skateboarding in Athens is a pastime that resident boarders should take as a given. But there are only so many backsides and kickflips they can perform without any proper skate parks in which to hang out and ride.
Luckily for the Kerameikos neighbourhood’s legion of Tony Hawk hopefuls, architect Zachos Varfis is working on a solution. The fellow skateboarder and his friends have almost completed LATRAAC, his ambitious project to provide Athens with its first ever skate bowl.
When Freitag heard about this derelict backyard that is now being converted into an urban oasis for the local youth, they knew they had just found the perfect spot for a shooting of their workwear-inspired F-ABRIC line. Dressed in the latest designs from the Swiss brand, even the models lent a quick hand to help the Greek architect with the skate haven’s finishing touches.
A labour-intensive afternoon proved that F-ABRIC is more than simply workwear-inspired. Rather, it is workwear in its own right, providing the durability necessary to get through a day of intense handicraft. The clothing’s strength doesn’t mean it isn’t eco-friendly, though, as the brand is committed to producing biodegradable ensembles made from the bast fibres hemp and flax as well as modal. Camera in hand, fashion photographer Amanda Camenisch was ready to capture the excitement that surrounded the skate park, which is scheduled to open this summer and ramp up the ollies.
