Hadley Hudson “Adrien in his Room”
Since 1999, American born, Hadley Hudson, has based herself predominantly in Berlin. Accrediting the city for her raw documentary style, Hudson began her photographic career from her Prenzlauer Berg apartment, shooting friends, fellow artists and musicians.
Proceeding photographing in her own apartment, Hudson progressed on to a project that concentrates on models in their homes. Aware of the intimate photographs that could be made in familiar surroundings, the photographer was fascinated by the way in which their environments could tell so much about each of her subjects. From model apartments in New York, to childhood bedrooms in London and squats in Vienna – Hudson’s candid yet stark way of shooting allows her audience to enjoy an unobstructed glimpse into the young peoples’ private lives through their personal space.
Continuing on with her project since 2008, Hudson’s photobook of the same vein is scheduled to launch this month. In addition to the ongoing project, Hudson has been regularly collaborating with Peaches, exhibited work in Paris, Hamburg and Berlin, featured in magazines such as 032c, Rolling Stone and Vogue and has been nominated for several LEAD awards.
We are pleased to be representing Hadley Hudson as a SLEEK artist, who is now finally launching her much-awaited photobook “Persona – Models at Home”, at Paris Photo on 12 of November, where the artist will do a book signing at Grand Palais at 5pm. The book, which is published by Hatje Cantz, hits the shelves on 20 November, including in Berlin’s Walther König, Bücherbogen, and Bildband & Dussmann shops.
