Hillary Clinton Is the Street Style Icon We've Been Sleeping On

Throughout the ongoing 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton has been lauded for many things: her work as former Secretary of State as well as her accomplishments as a United States Senator for New York. And while politics can be a divisive topic by nature, one Instagram user is striving to unite every voter whichever your political preference may be. The cause? Potential POTUS Clinton’s often imitated, never duplicated fabulous-looking fashion choices.
Instagram user @hillarystreetstyle is an anonymous account reaching cult-like status among fashion fans for its decidedly light-hearted take on this year’s presidential race. Pairing photos of Clinton with images of your favourite celebrities, the profile is a humorous reminder that it’s okay to be powerful, intelligent and well-dressed.

Sgt. Pepper meets Michael Jackson with the lovely Bella Hadid in the new(ish) Givenchy campaign, Kris Jenner in Saint Laurent and Hillz. And for the record (and those of you who heard Laura Ingraham’s RNC speech), while skinny jeans (on men or women) can really be a hit or miss garment, man-buns had us at hello #hillaryclinton #bellahadid #krisjenner #militaryjacket #saintlaurent #lookoftheday #tbt #streetstyle #hillarystreetstyle

“Human rights are women’s rights, and women’s rights are human rights” – Hillary knew what she was doing at the 1995 UN Conference on Women in Beijing – 20 years later JLo is sampling her speech, and Chloe Sevigny (in Louis Vuitton) and Kim Kardashian are rocking her look…and remember to vote West Virginia! #hillaryclinton #pinkjacket #kimkardashian #aintyourmama #chloesevigny #louisvuitton #streetstyle #lookoftheday #hillarystreetstyle

Though recent reports reveal that fashion’s ultimate fairy godmother Anna Wintour has taken Clinton under her Prada-wearing wing, Hillary Street Style proves the candidate’s on-trend wardrobe can be traced all the way back to her beginnings in the spotlight as FLOTUS. Dressed in a pastel pink blazer, Clinton is shown as ahead of her time when compared to Chloë Sevigny and Kim Kardashian decades later. Other comparisons include sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid, Giovanna Engelbert and even current President Barack Obama. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the account’s anonymous handler says: “If you look at a lot of Clinton’s fashion choices, they’re fashion choices,” adding, “They’re not like, suburban mom choices.” All political preferences aside, it’s hard to deny Hillary’s ability to rock the hell out of a pantsuit.

Leather jackets, popped collars and a POTUS endorsement. To celebrate we really wanted to do a Barak/Hillary mom jeans mash-up, but after some digging, it appears that Hillary will be the first major candidate who doesn’t wear mom jeans. Go figure. #tbt #obama #hillaryclinton #leatherjacket #momjeans #streetstyle #lookoftheday #hillarystreetstyle

Hillary, Gigi Hadid and Giovanna Battaglia celebrate Spring in striped shirtdresses. The best thing about shirtdresses – they usually have pockets – so it’s easy to keep your #womancard close at hand. #tbt #hillaryclinton #gigihadid #giovannabattaglia #shirtdress #streetstyle #lookoftheday #hillarystreetstyle #striped
