Hood By Air‘s founder Shayne Oliver has been recruited as a designer for Helmut Lang to create a special collection to be released in September 2017. Isabella Burley, the brand’s editor-in-residence has made the decision to hire the cult menswear designer. Chief executive Andrew Rosen appointed Isabella Burley, the editor-in-chief of Dazed magazine, as editor-in-residence of the brand.
This could have explained the reason why Hood By Air cancelled its March 2017 Paris Fashion Week show. However, HBA has confirmed that the label will be continued, but that it will be transitioning to accommodate Oliver’s new venture.
Helmut Lang himself retired from fashion in 2005 to pursue an art career. In the wake of Lang’s departure, Nicole and Michael Colovos designed menswear and womenswear lines under the label from 2005-2014, whilst Alexandre Plokhov acted as creative director of menswear from 2014, a role which he has now exited.
