As well as flowing into champagne glasses for Berlin’s Gallery Weekend, Ruinart champagne will also be taking more of a centre stage in the art event this May Day weekend. In a continuation of their previous artistic collaboration with Georgia Russell, the champagne house have now commissioned French artist and scenographer Hubert Le Gall to create a work of art inspired by the “Blanc de Blancs”, the limited edition of the house’s chardonnay-based champagne. Faced with this challenge, the artist came up with “The Glass Calendar”, a work that celebrates the notion of time. The series of twelve glass sculptures pay homage to the different seasons, each of which in turn is crucial for creating Ruinart’s iconic classic champagne. Le Gall gives each month its own character, and the rough–yet smooth–surface of the glass bubbles mirrors the ups and downs of passing of time.
