Hublot reveal their gender-neutral Big Bang collaboration

Fewer shades feel more befitting of our present times than millennial pink. The blush tone has had its former connotations of garish girliness dispelled by Gen-Z who see it symbolic of calmness, warmth and an androgynous modernity. This shift has not gone unnoticed by luxury Swiss watchmaker, Hublot. The brand is acutely aware that its next generation of customers pride themselves on sending androgynous looks down their runways and spreading gender across a spectrum. Hublot view the blurring of gender boundaries as a change which should be embodied in their products. To do this, the watchmaker drafted in the expertise of Lapo Elkann and the Milan-based Garage Italia to collaborate on creating a new approach to timekeeping. What they came up with, was a limited edition Millennial Pink iteration of their classic Big Bang model.

Hublot’s chief executive Ricardo Guadalupe emphasised the brand’s ethos as the framework for creating fundamental values which its products have to embody. “At Hublot, we are particularly proud of the Art of Fusion. But the list of things we cherish also includes the ability to innovate, to change, to be different, and, of course, our watchmaking expertise.”

The watch itself bears a 42-mm lightweight aluminium case that one might traditionally expect to come in a black and gold number, but is instead found in the refreshing through-tinted millennial pink shade. Hublot ensure that you are not left short of options by supplying the Big Bang Millennial Pink with two straps. The first strap provides you with a classic rubber option which offers versatility without aesthetic expense. It bears the same shade of satin-finished millennial pink as the aluminium case as does the second strap which offers a Velcro and knitted PES fabric, that is secured with a sporty buckle should you opt for a more off-duty look. Both straps can be easily interchanged thanks to the brand’s slick One-Click system. The only catch? The Big Bang Millennial Pink will only be available in a limited edition run of 200 pieces.
