Mia Baker and Marcus Smith. All Looks J.LINDEBERG GOLF-COLLECTION
For Mia Baker and Marcus Smith, golf is more than just a sport: it’s a mindset, a lifestyle, and a canvas for self-expression. As brand ambassadors, they embody J.Lindenberg’s Holiday/Pre-Fall 2025 collection’s spirit of movement, authenticity, and style. Their approach to sport and fashion reflects J.Lindeberg’s mission to redefine athletic wear with confidence, versatility, and urban sophistication. As two of the sport’s most compelling voices, they’re challenging stereotypes and reshaping the look and feel of golf, both on and off the course. In this conversation, they discuss the significance of comfort and confidence in their attire, the influence of sport on their personal growth, and the significance of authenticity as the key to success, whether navigating tournament crowds or urban streets.
SLEEK What do you pay special attention to when choosing sportswear for golf?
Mia Baker I look for pieces that blend performance with style: flattering cuts, elevated details, and something that feels just as good off the course as it does on it.
Marcus Smith Comfort and mobility come first. If I’m thinking about my clothing, I’m not fully locked in. I need material that stretches and breathes, but style matters too. If you look good, feel good, and play good, then you will be compensated well.

S The collection merges sportswear with street style. Which piece do you find yourself wearing beyond golf or training?
MB The sporty co-ord sets and statement jackets. I love styling them with trainers or layering them for a city look after a round of golf.
MS The tech trousers. They wear breathable sweats but look sharp enough for a tournament. Honestly, I wear them way too often.
S Do you wear sportswear in everyday life, or do you separate your training wardrobe from casual outfits?
MB I definitely mix the two. Most of my wardrobe is sporty chic. I love incorporating golf pieces like skirts or jackets into my everyday style.
MS Same here. I like consistency, and that includes how I dress. My go-to pieces work both on and off the course.

S Movement happens not just in the body, but in the mind. How has sport personally changed you?
MB Golf has taught me patience and resilience. It’s challenged me mentally just as much as physically. It’s pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow into a more confident version of myself.
MS Sport gave me structure. Golf in particular has shaped my character, teaching me integrity, honesty, and initiative. It’s taught me to stay calm under pressure and think strategically rather than react emotionally. I’ve also learnt to focus on my own path, not worry about others, and to value the journey as much as the outcome.
S In a world where performance is always expected, authenticity becomes increasingly important. How do you stay true to yourself, on the course and beyond?
MB By staying connected to what I love: sport, style, and storytelling. I started this journey because I wanted to make more space for people like me – women, people from under-represented backgrounds, people who didn’t grow up thinking golf was for them. I remind myself that I don’t have to fit a mould to belong, and the more I show up as myself, the more I can help change the narrative.
MS I keep my faith at the centre of everything. My relationship with my Lord grounds me, and so does my family – especially my seven younger siblings. They remind me of who I do this for, even when things aren’t going my way.

S Cities can be loud, fast, and demanding. How do you stay grounded, during training or in everyday life?
MB I find calm in routine, whether it’s a quiet coffee in the morning, time on the course, or walking my dog. Movement helps me reset, especially when I can share it with the people I love.
MS I put my headphones in and move. A walk, a run, a session on the range — anything that helps me clear my head.
