As measures to slow down the spread of Covid-19 were ramped up globally this week, most of us have had to adjust to a myriad of changes, including practicing social distancing, the realities of isolation caused by illness, employment precarity and for many: adapting to working from home. For those who are used to putting down a full week in an office, this new way of life brings with it a whole new set of challenges: do we work from a desk or from the comfort of our beds? Without the rush of the morning commute, what do we make for breakfast? If we share our space with someone, how do we navigate conference calls, or fairly divvy up the deskspace? But let’s be honest: among the most pressing of these questions is what do we wear when we’ve no office to go to and no colleagues to see, or no bosses to take us seriously?
What one wears while #wfh, is a revealing one. Are you the kind who dresses up in a shirt and blazer, or applies a full face of make-up, even if you don’t move out of the confines of your bedroom all day? Or, on the contrary, maybe you are the kind who can carry on as normal, answering emails in the ludicrous luxury of their satin pyjamas? Even better, maybe you are one of those people who wears sweatpants and slippers on the bottom and a fancy blouse on top, or the creative kind who has seized the opportunity to wear all the outrageous things you would never normally wear—a dramatic evening gown, a bold red lip, something glitzy. Or you could be more like me, and find that the question of Working From Home is always just a matter of how to stop being cold in your flat, trying in vain to maintain a level of professionalism, even with a blanket draped over your shoulders.

Expect everything from pool slides paired with thick white socks, indoor sunglasses, Hawaiian shirts, house coats, zany prints, baseball caps, crochet scarves, hoods galore, dubious layers, oversized everything, and even Marc Jacobs in a smorgasbord of designs. Pairing selfies with snappy captions, @wfhfits is giving us some joy away from incessant news cycles. And seeing strangers adjust to the new norm, grapple with the onslaught of changes (and finding a wardrobe to match) is a humbling reminder that we are all in this together.
