At recent men’s fashion weeks, the taboo surrounding menswear and handbags is quickly eroding. Large shopper handbags are becoming a go-to option for many men’s fashion week attendees as gender stereotypes with regard to clothing and accessories are increasingly changing—and for the better. French luxury house Givenchy has noted this shift in the zeitgeist and have created a bag that modern men will deem ultra-covetable: a menswear variation on its popular shopper, the Bond.
Originally introduced as a women’s shopper designed to endure creative director Clare Waight Keller’s travel-intensive lifestyle, the handbag is recognisable for the stud buttons that line its horizontal edges. The studs bond the two pieces of leather fabric together, serving as inspiration for the bag’s name. The new menswear versions have had a fresh paint-job, adding tints of bright colored ‘Givenchy’ lettering and accents, with some styles also including string and chain detailing.
The expanded Givenchy Bond collection is now available in selected stores worldwide and givenchy.com
