Palm* Photo Prize 2024, the biennial competition organised by London-based publisher Palm* Studios, is open to photographers internationally. Closing 30th November, the prize is free to enter and welcomes photographers working across all disciplines and styles. The Palm* Photo Prize aims to support, elevate and showcase the best of the new wave of image-maker, be them emerging or established, and to encourage conversations on human engagement, artistic development, community and their representation through the printed image.
There is no theme, although strong stand-alone images are encouraged and entrants can submit up to two photographs. All entrants will be in with a chance of winning the Judge’s Panel Prize, People’s Choice Award, and Canvas Represents Mentorship programme. The Palm* Photo Prize 2024 will launch with an exhibition at the Melkweg Expo, Amsterdam, in May 2024, where 100 shortlisted entries will be showcased. This group exhibition will additionally be displayed at the 10 14 Gallery, London, in September 2024.
The Judge’s Panel Prize, first and second place, will be decided by a panel of industry experts. These include Alastair McKimm, Editor-in-Chief of i-D; Emma Bowkett, Curator and Director of Photography at the FT Weekend Magazine; photographer Dana Lixenberg; and D. Wiafe, artist and course leader at the London College of Communication (UAL). First prize will receive a €1000 Artist Grant, a Palm* Studios goodie bag, a Palm* Feature, and will be included in Palm* Photo Prize group exhibitions at both Melkweg Expo, Amsterdam, and 10 14 Gallery, London.
Second prize will receive a €500 Artist Grant, plus a Palm* feature and goodie bag – in addition to inclusion in both group exhibitions.
The Canvas Represents Mentorship Award will see one entrant presented with a three meeting mentorship with Canvas’ team of agents, focussing on a portfolio review, as well as an editorial & commercial strategy to help the recipient with the next steps in their career.
