Presenting her debut runway show at this year’s Berlin Fashion Week, Leonie Mergen’s AW17 collection was a tribute to the culture of Azerbaijan. The German designer’s exciting presentation was held at the Kaufhaus Jandorf in Mitte, with a celebratory after party taking place at Tube Station Berlin.
Read below for a recap of the two stand-out events, in case you missed it.

BFW travels to Azerbaijan

For Mergen’s “Karabakh Collection”, the designer combined plunging necklines and sleeved capes with buttery-soft leather and delicate silk – a reference to Azerbaijan’s legacy as a hub on the ancient Silk Road. Geometric navy and burgundy patterns evoke the region’s infamous tapestries in the designer’s distinctive first show.

After the party is the after party

A fashion week presentation isn’t complete without an equally stylish after party, and Mergen didn’t disappoint on either fronts. Following the runway show, the designer welcomed friends and fashion insiders at Tube Station Berlin for celebratory cocktails. Guests raised a glass to the young creative courtesy of Belvedere Vodka, Kyrö Gin and Carpe Diem beverages, ensuring they were sufficiently sauced up enough for a boogie on the dance floor.
