The rumours of Louis Vuitton’s first perfume launch have been circulating since the appointment of an in-house perfumer, Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud (of Stella by Stella McCartney, Dior Addict, and Jean Paul Gaultier Classic fame, to name a few) back in 2012.
In true LV style they have not rushed the process, concentrating on exquisite quality over everything else. “There is time for creation, there is time for business. Sometimes people want to reduce the time of creation in the name of business,” Cavallier told Kathleen Baird-Murray in an exclusive interview in the Financial Time at the brand’s new HQ in Grasse.
It’s important to note for the perfume puritans, that this is not the label’s first launch. Eau de Voyage came out in 1946 and was briefly reissued in the eighties.
The new release that’s due this September is clouded in a mist of secrecy. All the brand will reveal is that it will focus on pure florals, and a new note derived from the iconic LV leather – the website promises ‘a journey of emotions’ – LV, we can confirm that we are already emotional.
