Well before the world was binging on boxsets, your best bet for spending hours with your favourite characters, was reading a paperback. But sometimes more memorable than the actual stories, was the cover art bearing stylised typography and fantastical illustrations of the protagonists in intriguing settings. For Pre-Fall 2020, Nicholas Ghesquière used the vintage storytelling of pulp fiction to illustrate his latest collection for Louis Vuitton.
While photographer Collier Schorr shot the stars of Ghesquière’s campaign, they are set against animated book cover backdrops—taking inspiration from Peter Blatty’s original The Exorcist cover, even featuring a t-shirt with the print. Featuring made-up titles such as Forbidden Games, Secret Sister and Crystal Fortress—with comically-gripping taglines such as “It’s not just her heart that’s in danger of breaking” to complete the novel illusion. Among the 23 stars of the series are Pose’s Angelica Ross, Robyn, Jaden Smith, and American Horror Story cast mates Billie Lourd, Cody Fern and Emma Roberts.
