Early in the morning, far from her California home, Luna Blaise may still be shaking off sleep, but her responses are sharp, thoughtful, and insightful. At just 22, the actor has already navigated the highs of a breakthrough role in Manifest, and with her upcoming role in the highly anticipated Jurassic World: Rebirth, set for release in 2025, her star is clearly on the rise. She is the perfect blend of humility and ambition, poised yet introspective, balancing the pressures of fame with an almost Stoic resolve. Over a quiet conversation, Blaise shares her journey from childhood dreams to navigating the whirlwind of stardom – and why staying grounded is the only way forward.

SLEEK: What did you want to be as a child and when did you realise acting was your path?

LUNA BLAISE: As a child, I wanted to be involved in performance – putting on shows, dressing up, and directing friends into creating fantasies in my living room. I always dreamed of living in another universe; acting felt like that dream. I realised acting could be a career when I saw kids my age in movies and thought, ‘This is actually a job!’ That helped separate fantasy from reality, leading me to pursue a career in acting.

S: Would you consider yourself an extrovert?

LB: Not exactly – I see myself as more of an ambivert, balancing between extroverted and introverted qualities.

S: Manifest was a significant breakthrough in your career. How has it changed your personal life and public perception of you?

LB: Oh man, Manifest opened so many doors for me! It paved the way for big opportunities. People now recognise my name more, which has impacted my life by giving me the chance to practise my craft daily alongside wonderful people. I’ve learned valuable lessons from that experience. Before gaining popularity, I tried not to let change affect how grounded I’ve stayed over the years. My life hasn’t shifted drastically due to public opinion; however, there have been positive changes.

S: You have gained recognition at such a young age – how do you maintain composure amidst media attention?

LB: You know, starting young exposed me to public attention early on, but my parents, who work in the industry, were a big influence. They shielded me well from social media frenzy while keeping the focus on acting itself. Even when challenges arise, I accept that as part of the journey. Staying professional helps tremendously.

S: Did your parents give any specific advice about fame and industry challenges?

LB: Yes! They advised me to never be late: ‘If you’re on time, you’re already late!’ That’s crucial advice in our field despite not being directly related to media stuff.

S: Congratulations on your role in Jurassic World: Rebirth! It has received quite a lot of attention recently. How do you prepare mentally for intense film projects like this one?

LB: Honestly, nothing could have fully prepared me for the experience. It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime whirlwind moment that I’ll cherish forever. Staying focused through meditation helped immensely. Approaching such a big film project with a certain level of naivety helped create a beautiful learning experience without being too overwhelming too quickly.

S: What was your reaction upon receiving confirmation of the role?

LB: I remember waking up at home when my mum called, followed by agents reaching out unexpectedly. I thought they were delivering bad news about other auditions but instead, I heard, ‘We’re meeting dinosaurs!’ It left an incredible impression that lingered long after.

S: You mentioned meditation earlier. How do you find tranquillity amidst chaos on set or at public appearances?

LB: Staying level-headed is key, along with whichever form of meditation works best for you. Humility remains essential; there are enough over-inflated egos in this industry. Even if you do get your sprinkle of publicity or fame, you’ve got to remember that nothing ever lasts. If you want it to last, you must maintain a certain aura that shows you’re not getting too ahead of yourself.

S: We are getting philosophical now. The Stoic philosopher Epictetus taught that true freedom comes from controlling our reactions to external events. In that sense, calmness becomes a tool for resilience. How do you relate to this Stoic approach in your own life, especially when navigating the pressures of fame and the demands of your career?

LB: I think that having reliable people to lean on and having people that are well-versed in the industry is a huge help and support. This industry can become so blinding, with so much happening at once: people screaming your name, photographers taking pictures; it’s surreal at times. You have to maintain a Stoic composure and always hold your head up high. This world full of opportunities requires patience plus perseverance to ensure steady growth while avoiding the pitfalls of rapid success.

S: How do you unwind after busy days spent on set or in the studio?

LB: I find writing down my experiences while sipping a cup of tea very grounding. Also, mindful breathing is a game changer – even if I’m just staring at a white wall. Watching good films not only helps me unwind but also inspires reflection after long, exhausting days on set.

S: Do you have a favourite calm space where you like to recharge?

LB: Definitely – home brings me the utmost safety and comfort. I love playing music on the record player, lighting incense, opening the doors, and letting in some sunlight. Living in California means I can always enjoy time in the garden. Oh, and of course, I love a cold plunge! Being with friends and family and having a regular work out regime is also very calming – I’m pretty simple when it comes to that.

S: What are your career aspirations?

LB: In my head, it feels like I’ve only just started acting, though I’ve actually been doing it for so long now. The next chapter should simply be a continuation of what’s happening right now, but with more accumulated wisdom and experience. I also think it’s crucial to stay open to inspiration and not shut yourself off. I’m excited to mould myself into different roles and characters. Eventually, I’d love to step behind the camera. Cinematography is a field I’m eager to explore in the future.
