For AW17, Poland-born Marta Jakubowski presented a collection that continued her exploration of sexuality and confidence through clothing. The RCA trained designer focused this season on ‘female self-actualisation’ and no doubt the Jakubowski woman must feel free and relaxed to pull off some of the more rib-baring pieces. Twisted velvet cropped tops were mixed with tailoring – that was influenced by a bold 80s silhouette. The asymmetric blazer and quilted dresses gave a new angle on power-dressing, in a warm colour palette of fire engine red, magenta and neon orange.
The collection aimed to celebrate womanhood, a concept that was perfectly in tune with the fun soundtrack that included Chaka Khan, Sade and Tina Turner – that both models and onlookers couldn’t help but move to.
