Of the many exhibition openings going on during Berlin Gallery Weekend 2017, one in particular pays tribute to French actress Isabelle Huppert. From today until 15 June, Michael Fuchs Galerie presents “Behind the Screen”, a group show featuring photos and videos by a multitude of international artists including Marco Brambilla, Douglas Gordon, Roni Horn, Christian Jankowski and Oda Jaune.
At the heart of the show is “Portrait of an Image”, a series of 100 photographs of Huppert taken by Roni Horn. Each headshot sees the actress expressing a single emotion that embodies the many different characters she’s played throughout her career in film. A clear display of Huppert’s ability to slip into past roles with ease, the award winning performer is forced to recall each unique personality from memory.
