And with the eerie swing of an enormous metallic pendulum at Alessandro Michele’s first standalone menswear show for Gucci since 2016, Milan Fashion Week Men’s came to a close. As Michele’s show ushered in a new grungier, less flamboyant era for Gucci menswear (shimmering green and silver trousers notwithstanding, think instead babydoll dresses layered over ripped-legged trousers), Miuccia Prada, meanwhile, brought grown-up workwear—retro geometric prints, boxy blazers and skinny ties—to the Italian fashion capital. The mature mood continued at Alexander McQueen with rainbow speckled Donegal tweeds and sharp tailoring, where Francesco Risso brought mesmeric motion to Milan’s runways via the trance-like choreography of Michele Rizzo.
But away from the runways there was lots to spy on the streets, so photographer Yu Fujiwara captured a slice of the action—the looks, the people, the highs, the lows and all the sights in between.
