Molly Goddard AW17

Molly Goddard showed her latest collection in the vast concrete Topshop Show Space at the Tate Modern. The show opened with her signature pink ruffles and after circling the venue, models settled on chairs around one of the two huge banquet tables laden with fruit, wine and candles. The casting was diverse but all models had a similar youthful innocence to them that is very much in keeping with Goddard’s obsession with being young and playing dress-up.

The Fashion Awards winner continued to build her brand based on ‘girliness’ by presenting her familiar tulle A-line dresses, this time styled with satin ballet flats and leggings. The front row was sprinkled with tulle Goddard pieces too, worn by Agyness Deyn among other show goers. The CSM graduate expanded her range of whimsical dresses to include satin trousers, striped knitwear and some more figure hugging ruched pieces – giving some sense of wearability to her otherwise fun and fantasy-led collection.

From the beauty of the set design to the harmony in the casting and the new variety of garments presented Molly Goddard’s AW17 collection has confirmed her place as London’s favourite young designer.
