The evolution of the Web3 space has entirely redefined the traditional ways in which we view finance, governance, ownership and privacy. The pandemic radically accelerated the rate of how digital technologies, and the conversations surrounding the digital space, emerged. Now, the digital space is a very “real” space that is deemed as the future; the future of decentralised finance, fashion and of course – art.
NFTs and online gallery spaces are dismantling and disrupting the traditional hierarchical structures of the art world. Rather than seeking grants from private institutions or seeking representation at a culturally recognised gallery in order to establish themselves, artists are able to curate their own exhibitions through online platforms and NFTs, making art decentralised and more accessible for artists and their audiences.

One of these platforms is Musee Dezentral – an immersive online gallery space that reimagines the traditional museum space and conventional ways of exhibiting art. Free from physical limitations, Musee Dezentral is a borderless and immersive space that showcases the work of digital artists alongside pieces from art collectors’ archives. Musee Dezentral are questioning, and therefore elevating, the potential of NFTs. By placing 2D digital art within the three dimensional space, the piece is given a different kind of “life” in which its aesthetic value is enhanced, making the experience much more immersive for both the owner and the visitors.

Combining digital elements with brutalist renaissance architecture, Musee Dezentral aims to question the future of the museum space. By using a custom graphic engine, combined with the latest 3D technology, Musee Dezentral is able to offer their digital museum experience to all, in hopes to reach those who may have never visited a gallery space before. With decentralisation at its core, Musee Dezentral is aware of the importance of education, especially within the museum environment. Through the exhibitions, it aims to educate visitors on blockchain technology and its potential beyond the digital space, as well as the history of NFT art.

As the space continues to grow, Musee Dezentral plans to expand into more immersive art experiences tailored towards wider audiences and areas of art, such as museums dedicated to contemporary art, street art, stolen art, sound and more; all of which will continue to contribute to the decentralised future of art.
