Curated by Julian Daynov, a renowned fashion industry expert and business consultant, NEUDEUTSCH represents a cultural renaissance in German design. With a commitment to celebrating cultural pluralism and innovative talent, the platform transcends the stereotype that German design is primarily utilitarian, stemming from the Bauhaus tradition. NEUDEUTSCH is about embracing a rich tapestry of global influences, reflecting the evolution and vibrancy of contemporary German aesthetics.

Originally launched in collaboration with menswear platform PITTI IMMAGINE UOMO in Florence, NEUDEUTSCH has since become a traveling curation project. Their initiative brings together works by German-based creatives across various disciplines, showcasing a dynamic and evolving narrative that prizes an eclectic and vibrant approach. NEUDEUTSCH aims to highlight the avant-garde, the expressive, and the eco-conscious aspects of modern design. “At the heart of NEUDEUTSCH is the idea of cultural pluralism enriching German design language through diverse and inventive talent,” says Daynov. “Through their works, these creatives are writing a contemporary manifesto of modernity, declaring that German design has transcended its utilitarian roots.”

Daynov, as captured in this photoshoot, exudes the innovative spirit that defines NEUDEUTSCH. His portraits, set against industrial, modern backdrops, reflect the collective’s mission to transcend the traditional perceptions of German design. The series’ dreamy, trancelike photos show crisp fabric and layers, but also pieces that are purposely shredded and torn. Interested in more than just the technical, NEUDEUTSCH hopes to feature brands that explore individualist creative passions. Through Daynov’s curation, NEUDEUTSCH aims to dismantle outdated clichés and introduce a dynamic manifesto of modernity that embraces global influences and cultural pluralism.
