Where are you from?

I was born in England and then came to Germany because my mother was very curious and brave to travel with little money in hand. She wanted to see more of the world.

Is there a difference between homeland and home for you?

I have no homeland and no home.

What role does acceptance play for you?

It plays a huge role. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking. I noticed very early on that my mother was not accepted. It broke my heart because my mother didn’t deserve it. When you’re small, all you can do is stand next to it and watch on helplessly. For me, the most important thing was that I became someone who was heard. That’s why I have always been very diligent because I’ve always had to be better than someone who has a white complexion.

Which question do you no longer want to be asked?

“Where do I come from?”
