Last week, New York label, Opening Ceremony, presented an AW17 collection with a protest-inspired ballet, entitled The Times Are Racing. The performance, choreographed by 29-year-old ballet star Justin Peck, explored the “journeys of our parents and then our journey as Americans”, founder of the brand Carol Lim told W Magazine. The show, 12 days before NYFW, coincides perfectly with the current outrage regarding Trump’s travel ban to the U.S from certain Muslim-majority countries – sparking protests across the world.
The presentation included a new capsule collection called Action; a line consisting of hoodies, tees and tanks with protesting slogans including Defy, Act and Shout.
