Kylie Jenner’s lipstick line might have caused a stir on social media when it was launched last year. But when queen-of-makeup Pat McGrath releases her debut lip kit later this month, beauty addicts will be left glitter-lipped mouthing the words “Kylie who?”
Pat McGrath is one of the most important MUA (that’s fashion code for make up artist) in the industry. She started her career freelancing for magazines the Face and i-D, at which she also later became beauty director. McGrath is a regular at the biggest shows, and chances are, any runway look you have lusted after was her work. Remember those green-gold lips at the Prada SS16 show? Or the bejewelled mouths at Dior Couture SS13? Not to forget those mega-feather lashes at Alexander McQueen for AW14? Yep, she was responsible for all of it.
Entitled Lust 004, the packaging of McGrath‘s line alone is enough to get beauty bloggers knickers’ in a twist, and to get to the prized product you have to delve into a pouch full of sequins. There are three colours to choose from: Version Flesh (nude), Version Vermillion Venom (red) and Version Bloodwine (purple and deep red). Each kit comes with five products: a gloss, two super matte lipsticks, gold pigment and a pot of glitter. And to promote the lip kit, the makeup mogul presents it on none less than Bella Hadid’s perfect pout in this Instagram video.
“Glitter is for every day, in my mind,” she told the LA Times. “You want it in the daylight, you want it in the sun.”
