These Photographs Examine the Social and Cultural Identity of Today's UK

Strange and Familiar at the Barbican ‘The Red Sheath’ by Tina Barney

A collection of over 250 portrait, architectural, street and social documentary photographs unite in “Strange and Familiar,” an exhibition that aims to present Britain in all its glory from the 1930s until today. The Martin Parr curated show includes works from such internationally recognised artists as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Rineke Dijkstra, Robert Frank and Garry Winogrand. Many of the featured works are previously unreleased, creating an intimate depiction of the social, cultural and political identity of the UK.
