Producer, songwriter and singer Adel Tawil in the latest episode of Anderssein podcast supported by SEAT

In the latest episode of  “ANDERSSEIN” podcast supported by SEAT, host Minh-Khai Phan-Thi talks with producer, songwriter and singer Adel Tawil about why it was important to him writing the song ‚Wohin soll ich gehen?’ (‘Where should I go?).

What does being different mean to you?

I think I started questioning myself about it in kindergarten. At daycare, we were all the same, but I remember one of my mother’s performances very clearly: she walked into the room and tore my tea sausage roll out of my hand. Then she turned to the teacher and she said: “My children don’t eat pork”.

What does home mean to you?

Home are my Egyptian, Tunisian and German roots. You don’t change it.

When did you start looking at your roots?

During the time with Annette Humpe. She asked me questions and understood me in a completely different way, and I began dealing more critically with my roots, including religion.

So, where are you from?

I never worried about this question. I had other priorities. I can understand it can be interesting for someone, but not for me. I think it´s now time to break through this question. Me, personally, I just don’t answer anymore.
