Today, Raf Simons has been officially named the new chief creative officer of Calvin Klein, after resigning from his three-year tenure at Christian Dior last October. The Belgian designer’s minimalist aesthetic is a perfect match for the iconic American brand. The partnership has been widely rumored in the industry, and finally confirmed a few hours ago.
This is the designer’s most commercial role to date, and we are sure that the debut show in New York this coming season will be the most talked about on the fashion calendar. Calvin Klein has been making an effort to connect with a younger audience of late, and enlisting Simons with full creative control is a bold move. Will he do what Michele has done for Gucci? We can only wait and see.
