Ruby O. Fee: Modern Muse

Since her early roles in the films Womb and Bibi & Tina, Ruby O. Fee has not only made a name for herself as a talented actress but also established herself as a style icon and content creator. She blends classic glamour with modern ease in a way that feels entirely her own. For Tiffany & Co., she represents that rare mix of tradition and freshness – the perfect ambassador for elegance, conviction and the courage to embrace creativity. In this interview, Ruby talks about her love for silver and gold, the significance of jewellery as an emotional statement, and the new series Brick, in which she appears on screen for the first time with her partner Matthias Schweighöfer as a couple, premiering on Netflix on 10 July.

SLEEK Tiffany & Co. stands for elegance and timeless classics. Is jewellery more of an everyday companion for you or something for special occasions?

RUBY O. FEE Jewellery means a lot to me. When I think about red carpets – like recently at the Cannes Film Festival – it’s a real honour to wear such beautiful pieces by Tiffany & Co. At the same time, jewellery holds emotional value for me, especially when it connects me to someone or reminds me of special moments. That includes artisanal pieces I’ve picked up on my travels, as well as the Tiffany Lock bracelets Matthias and I both wear.

S Are you more team silver or team gold, or do you mix the two?

RF It really depends on the phase I’m in. I like both, but right now I’m definitely in my silver era.

S Do you prefer subtle accessories, or do you like to go bold?

RF There’s the right piece for every mood. I travel a lot and bring back treasures from all over the world. Some are oversized wooden bead necklaces or handcrafted belly chains – which I absolutely love. Body jewellery with bikinis is also very much my vibe. But I also have delicate pieces that I wear in everyday life.

S Is there a piece of jewellery that holds special meaning for you?

RF Definitely our Lock partner bracelets. Matthias once said, “That way, we’re locked in” – and I love that thought.

S This collaboration with Tiffany & Co. is also about icons. Are there women in your life that you would describe as icons?

RF Oh yes. I find it hard to single out individuals because I’m surrounded by so many creative, inspiring powerhouses who impress me both artistically and personally. Every exchange with them is a gift.

S What does attitude mean to you?

RF In classical ballet, “attitude” refers to a specific posture – I’ve always found that fascinating. In German, the word can sometimes sound negative, even arrogant. In English, to me, it feels powerful, confident, and cool. But actually, I’m even more drawn to the word “aura” – how someone comes across without saying a word.

S Is there a difference between your attitude in front of the camera and in real life?

RF If we agree on calling it aura, then yes, there’s a big difference. In front of the camera, I’m not myself – I’m my character. Of course, parts of my personality flow into it, but I try to understand what the character is feeling and experiencing, even when that has nothing to do with my own life. So I would say my presence on camera is quite different from who I am in private.

S When do you feel most like yourself? Is there a moment when your attitude is most visible?

RF I think I’ve always been very much myself. Anything else wouldn’t be sustainable in the long run. But I’m not someone who’s super outgoing in large groups. I like to retreat a bit, observe and get a feel for the energy. With my family and close friends, it’s different, of course.

S You’ll soon be filming again with Matthias Schweighöfer. What can you tell us about the new project?

RF It’s going to be intense. Brick is a mystery thriller about a couple trapped in a house trying to escape. We shot it in the depths of winter in the Czech Republic, spending weeks in the dark – it was pretty intense. And for the first time, Matthias and I play a couple on screen, which was a new experience for us as a real-life couple too.

S What’s it like working so closely with your partner?

RF I love it. We trust each other deeply, even on set. And even in dark roles like in Brick, we always manage to have fun filming.

S Was there a moment during the shoot that really stuck with you?

RF I think we were all blown away by the set design. A full multi-storey house was built just for the film, allowing us to really portray the feeling of being trapped. That was incredible.

S If you could work with anyone, in front of or behind the camera, who would it be?

RF There are so many. But the first person that comes to mind is Ruben Östlund.

S What are your upcoming plans – professionally and personally?

RF So much is coming up. Honestly, this year is wild. But I can tease one project: I’m working on a web show with my friend Zsa Zsa that blends podcast and video. We’ve already shared the name Femaliens with our community. The first episodes are filmed, and we’ll be streaming on YouTube soon. I think it’s going to be really cool, entertaining and fun.

S Finally, if you stripped away all your roles, outfits and jewellery – what would be left?

RF My aura. And the beautiful thing about it is that it comes from within.
