Wear Talia Link’s mesmerising Witch with a Sleek Art Edition!
Following collaborations with Martin Eder, Jen Ray and Keren Cytter, Sleek’s newest limited-edition wearable artwork comes from Israeli artist Talia Link.
With her “Witches Series”, featured in the current issue of Sleek and on the magazine’s Art Cover, Link reclaims the history of the witch – feared, marginalised and prosecuted – to construct a new history and a new tradition. Just as this figure originated as a folk creation, Link creates new versions by appropriating symbols and signifiers from a range of ethnicities and cultures.
The symbol of the V can stand for many things, but in Link’s work it is appropriated as the symbol of the witch. Referencing the language of advertisements and empowering self-help mantras, she coined “Use the V” as the slogan for the new witch. Read more about this fascinating subject in the current issue of Sleek.
